Introduction:
Compared with the 18Cr9-10Ni grades which maintain
strength and scaling resistance up to 700-800°,
this steel has scaling resistance up about 1000°C
in air. It is part of the family of 23Cr12Ni stainless
steels which differ in their carbon content and the
stabilization of it with niobium:

This higher carbon grade exhibits
slightly higher creep and stress rupture strength
at 700-900°C but ASME II does not differentiate
this in its design stresses. Performance in corrodents
and under impact at ambient temperatures may be influenced
by various phases that may precipitate during prolonged
high temperature exposures.
