X8 CrNi 18 12 |
|
|
Introduction:
This steel contains an extra 2%Ni above the 304-type
alloys (UNS S304xx). This results in an even higher
stability of the austenitic structure which is desirable
for severe cold forming operations. Even after 80%
reduction, stability and magnetic response (eg. B/H
1.1) are hardly altered.
This alloy has excellent cold drawability and is included
as X 8 CrNi 18 12 KD in Euronorm 119-74 'Steels for
Cold Upsetting and Cold Extrusion'.
Corrosion characteristics are similar to the 18Cr10Ni
grades.
Produced as sheet, tube, bar, etc for use in severe
cold working operations, eg. deep drawing, cold forming,
and cold heading.
